About dental insurance

Hello,

I have bad teeth and had a root canal about 2 years ago. Could not afford the requisite crown.A portion of my tooth is now broken off right below the gum line and of course I feel no pain because of the root canal. I now have the opportunity to sign up for dental insurance through work and pay about 30 something a month. I am waiting for the papers to come in. Will the insurance company honor any such work done right in the first month of signing up or will they want me to make several monthly payments first?

Please help
